WHO IS PUNKY?
I am just your friendly neighborhood artist. I stay as active as possible in my community (wherever that may be at the time) by participating in art projects, supporting small business, and donating to local causes.
My background in art goes all the way to my childhood, but I will start my story in higschool.
I had a wonderfully messy (yet also OCD) art teacher who, in the beginning, encouraged my interest in art. It was a safe space for me to learn many techniques and mediums. However, my teacher became very bored with my art. He said I had so much potential but I had no idea what he meant. I thought I was doing the best I could to make my art look good! It wouldn't be until years later that I realize he was trying to get me to express myself emotionally through art. He wanted me to challenge myself but I just couldn't at the time. At this point in my life, I am no longer afraid to express myself. I am no longer afraid to challenge myself OR others in ways of thinking outside the box.
In highschool, all I heard from teachers and parents and friends that my desire to become an artist was unreachable. They all held the same belief; that you can't make it in the world as an artist. I was discouraged to continue my path and gave up after my FIRST semester in college. The only job experience I had at the time was restaurant and fast food service so thats what I stuck to for a while. Then did some call center work and other various things until I met the father of my child. When I had my son, suddenly everything changed. I had an opportunity to start my art again! After all the hardship, emotions, love, pain and EVERYTHING in between that I endured, I realized I had something to express. And here we are!
I am so happy to be where I am now with my work and life and its all my amazing customers, friends, and family that have brought me here today.
